Some people hate Mondays but I don't. I guess it's because I don't have classes or work on Monday - at least not until next week. Monday is the day I get my laundry done, dishes and basically just putter around the house doing Rie stuff. Loud music, sweatpants and coffee makes up for the lousy chores that need to be done.

Ok... I'm babbling right now. I'm still in sleep-mode even though it's after 10am....

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I did - didn't go downtown or party or anything but that suited me just fine. I think I've been to enough parties and bars to last me for a while so I liked having a nice quiet weekend. I finally saw the movie "Old School". Dee and Glenda will be so proud of me! Now I understand Frank the Tank and the earmuffs, Dee!

School's ok. After dishes today and between loads of laundry, I will be studying. Harold Bloom anyone? Fairy Tales and Urban Legends? The Origin of language? Danish translation?

Thank you everyone who posted ideas about the "girl's club". Those were some awesome ideas and I appreciate it very much! I have a meeting on Thursday with my boss so I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

I gotta go. I think the dish water has cooled down enough for me to actually wash the dishes! I'll write more later, I promise!

Today, September 18th, is LENA'S BIRTHDAY! Happy Birthday sweetie! I will be having dinner with her and her husband tonight in Kolding and I'm looking forward to it! We met up for a quick coffee last week but other than that, I haven't seen her for months! These pictures of her (and me) are from Jelling Festival 2005. I met Lena when we both worked at the festival back in.... ok, I don't remember exactly which year it was but a few years ago and we have been good friends ever since. SHE ROCKS!!

Jelling festival is a great time for us but can be quite hard. As you can tell in the pictures, we always have fun - lots of laughs and good times. We usually put in long days and we're always on the run but it's something we both would not miss and we will be there again next year!

Happy Birthday Lena, I hope you have a great day!!

As some of you might know, I work part-time at a youth club and now also at a evening school/club for young teenagers. This year, along with my usual youth club, I also have a "Girl's Club" and a English class. What I need ideas for is regarding the Girl's Club....

I have around 15 girls in that club, all in the ages 13-15. I have good funding, a boss who lets me make my own decisions and basically do my own thing... I don't know these girls (yet) and I have no idea if they're very "girly" or into sports, or bad-ass pot smoking teenagers... I'm sure you get the idea.

So, how do I go out "entertaining" these girls? Any ideas? I officially work there Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm (including 1/2 hour break) but I can move it around to when it suits a certain activity - for example, shopping on a Saturday plus movie. So far, I've come up with bowling, shopping, movie, ice-skating, makeup course, pizza night, swimming....

Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever? I'm open to any suggestions and would just greatly appreciate some feedback. What did we do when we were 14 yrs old.... ok, nevermind, I don't want to think about that...

Ok, read the previous post - then you'll hear the "story" of little baby Lasse. I think he looks adorable, even though it does look kinda scary with tubes in his nose.

I'm running out of interesting pictures to post so this time, it'll only be text.

Things are good here in Denmark - I don't have classes on Wednesdays so my good friend Jonna and her daughter Caroline came over for lunch. We had a nice chat (some might call it a gossip-session ;) but we haven't really hung out for a while now, so we had quite a bit of catching up to do.

Mia has showed me that training at the local gym is actually quite fun so today, she picked me up and off we went. I don't feel like a complete moron there anymore and I think I actually look like I know what I'm doing because someone asked me about how to use a certain machine.... I stared at her with a very blank look and I guess she realized that I was a newbie as well. But hey, gotta start somewhere, right??

Now, I'm munching down on some food before Christa comes over. I was supposed to just stay at home and have a nice quiet night with my book but she just lives across the street and wanted to drop by. Nothing too major - I get to hang out with a friend and will still have time to read before it's bedtime.

Didde and Jeppe are now proud parents. Lasse was born last week, Sept 6th (I believe) but unfortunately there were some complications and the doctors are keeping a close eye out for Lasse. Nothing too major, from what I understand, but still enough to be a little scary. But I would like to welcome Lasse into the world and I'm looking forward in meeting you in person. When blogger and I end this love-hate relationship, I will post a picture or two of Lasse.

Rachel and my mom sitting at the dining table. I think they were trying to figure out how to do origami and it looks as though my mom is frusterated. She figured it out and it's all good.

I've known Rachel for many years now and it was great seeing her again. She came to Denmark a couple of years ago and we had such a good time together. She travels quite often so it was nice being able to catch her while she was still in Victoria before she takes off to either Thailand or Spain.

Nathan is super cool! Or he's just trying to make fun of my oversized sunglasses.... Hmmm

Don't I look like a bad-ass rocker chick? Steve's hat, Rock it Beaglemania t-shirt (YEAH Glenda!), oversized dark sunglasses and a smoke hanging out of my mouth - it's the new fashion!

Blogger has decided to be nice to me today and let me upload some more pictures....

Me and my mom. We were waiting for my bus to Vancouver - saying goodbye to them wasn't easy.

Me and my dad - and all my luggage. Tee hee, I always drag a whole lot of stuff back to Denmark!

I'm sad - I'm leaving and I cry when I have to say goodbye. Call me a freak, I don't care. I had a good trip and it was hard to say goodbye.

It's a good thing I have friends in Denmark that can show me a good time when I'm sad. This is a picture from the local bar - me and Christa had a good time with some drinks and dancing.

Tee hee, I just love this picture of Deeds wearing a ball-and-chain. It was meant to be for Nathan for his bachelor party but that thing was very heavy. It was the real deal.... and funny!

Hey Christine, you are the queen of blogger in my world and I need help. I downsized the photos and it worked for the first couple of posts but now it won't work anymore.... Boo hoo, I'm going to cry. Well, maybe not but still, this is quite frusterating. Is there a max for how many pictures one can post in a day? Hmmm.... well, I'll keep trying...

Nathan is trying to get rid of a small, yet very dangerous ;) wasp nest. I was hiding in his truck along with Glenda and didn't want any part of his mission - although I did want to document it! I'll admit, we're idiots but it sure was freaking hilarious and Nathan was successful. No more wasps on his front porch.

This is from the last Saturday I spent in Canada before heading back to Denmark. No, I'm not crying in this picture, it was dark - nighttime - and whenever the flash from the camera went off, I squinted.

My friend Lise and her boyfriend Michael. This is a very cute picture taken downtown by someone who works at a bar - they post all bar-shots on the internet and I just copied it and posted it here.

Another picture from the last Saturday in Canada. Rie and Steve.... he was heavy....

Rie and Thor - Glenda and Nathan's huge yet very friendly dog. He is such a cutie!

Christine told me that I should try re-sizing my photos and voila! Here I am with some pictures of my new home. Thank you Christine! (I feel like an idiot, here I am blaming blogger but in the end, it was me not thinking...) Anyways, here are a couple photos of my new home, nevermind the mess and the awful looking Rie - I was getting sick and I was tired as all hell!
This is the table and chairs I bought from Didde - a little old-fashioned but simple and I love it. I have turned the table so it is up against the wall in my living room. I have one more bookshelf in my bedroom but I have already run out of room for all my books. Not that I have that many but my collection is definitely growing and I will need more shelving/storage. The tv/dvd is on the other side of the window and the couch is to the right of the camera-man. He is standing in the doorway that leads to the hallway.

Rie in the very messy "I-haven't-packed-out-yet" bedroom. I still don't have my blinds up so for now, I am using a blanket for some privacy. To the right of the picture, there are 3 closet spaces - just enough room for all my clothes, art stuff and junk. They came with the apartment which meant I didn't have to invest in a closet system - perfect for a starving student. The camera-man is standing in the doorway, leading into the hallway.

I actually like this picture! And yes, I smoke too much. Here I am sitting on my "new" old couch, donated by Jonna and Brian. Thank you guys!! I don't have a coffee table just yet so I'm using the puff that came with the couch with a wooden tray as a table and it works just fine. The couch is facing the window and tv/dvd and again, the cameraman is standing with the doorway to the hall to his right.

One more of Rie, this time in the kitchen. The cameraman is standing again, take a wild guess - in the doorway to the hall! It's a fairly narrow kitchen but behind me, to the left, there is a hack out where I have the computer table and chair. But I might change that around and put my painting stuff there. The fridge is kinda behind the door at the very front of the picture and as you can see, I have lots of cupboard space. The other door right beside me is the back entrance that takes me directly out to the parking lot/play area for kids/garbage container etc. Plus the laundry room is just right around the corner when I come outside the back way.

There you go, the first pictures of my new home. I will take more and it already looks a bit different after I have organized and packed everything out. But I'm happy and enjoying my work-in-progress.

Posted by Rie On 10:06 AM
Yay me, I have internet again! It's actually quite scary how dependent and attached one gets to the internet - it's only been a little over a week without and I was driving myself nuts. I would much rather have internet than have a tv...

Anyways, I am sitting on the floor, in my new home and absolutely loving it. LOVING IT! My little apartment is super cool, or at least will be super cool when I'm done decorating and figuring out where things should be. But I can already see that my little home has the potential of being SUPER COOL. Yes, I am still all very excited about my new home and even though the excitement should die down soon, I'm still basking in the glow. At least for a little while longer.

The move went ok. It took a couple of days to get everything organized and put into its rightful place but it's starting to look like a real home. I bought (very cheap) a wooden "dining room" table with 4 chairs and a computer table from my friend - she also threw in a lamp and a large picture to hang up on my wall. I got a couch and a puff thing from another set of friends, free of charge. I have spent way too much money on lots of small stuff, such as more lights, kitchen items, bathroom stuff etc. So I'm broke now but I'm definitely happy. I still have to hang up all my lighting, the wooden blinds in the living room and bedroom plus all the wall decorations - ie, shelves (still have to buy those...) and paintings/pictures.

Other than my new home, I do have school and I have been quite busy trying to get everything read and sorted through. I went to the Rolling Stones concert last weekend and that was way cool! I'm not a huge fan of the Stones but when Mia came home one day with cheap tickets (legally), we both thought it would be a cool experience to see the Stones live. They definitely know what they're doing on stage and sure did give an awesome concert for 85000 people. Yups, 85000 plus all the crew and helpers. It was crazy how many people were there! It was an outdoor concert and luckily it didn't rain so it was all good. ALL GOOD.

I'm going to try and upload some new and exciting (yeah right) pictures. Christine mentioned that the reason I might be having problems is because my photos are quite large.... lets give it a try once I downsize them. I don't have a digi camera anymore and since I'm broke, I won't be getting one until I start working at the club again. But hopefully I can borrow Anders' again when he gets back from his late summer vacation - he never uses it anyways ;)

I'm just about to move the last of my stuff to my new home - including my laptop and since I don't have internet, I won't be blogging and on msn/skype for a week or so. Just to let you guys know.... I still love all of you and I will check my mail and stuff when I'm at school but I won't be the usual computer geek until I get my Net hooked up.

I'm running again - it's been a long day and I know myself, I won't be able to sleep until I have somewhat packed out... so it'll be a long night too.

I'll be back soon!!
